Dillon Thornton, Children’s Pastor

Dillon was born in Dublin, Ireland where he spent the early years of his life learning the family trade—fishing.  At the age of 15 he moved to Hollywood, CA to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an actor.  At age 16, Dillon got his first movie role, co-starring alongside Samuel L. Jackson in a thrilling blockbuster success.  Actually, none of what you have just read is true… but it does make Dillon sound more exciting than he actually is.

            Dillon was really born in Birmingham, AL.  He became a Christian at age 5 at Canaan Baptist church.  As a kid, Dillon always wanted to be a lawyer… mostly because he had a smart mouth and liked arguing with people.  But, at the early age of 16, Dillon realized that God had other plans for him.  In November of 1999, Dillon answered God’s call upon his life to full-time Christian Ministry.  He has been serving the Lord through Recreation Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Children’s Ministry ever since. 

Dillon is married to the most beautiful and talented woman in the world, Jamie.  Jamie and Dillon met at Hunter Street Baptist Church, where Dillon was on staff before coming to Flint Hill.  They dated for only a month and a half before Dillon proposed.  Luckily, Jamie said yes.  On May 7, 2005, they got married in Trussville, AL, at the home of Jamie’s childhood Pastor, Dr. Calvin Miller.  After only 1 year of marriage, Dillon honestly can’t remember what his life was like before meeting Jamie.     

Dillon’s other loves in life are of course, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his incredibly supportive family, starbucks coffee, running, the beach, movies, and just about anything outdoors.  His heroes in life are the Apostle Paul, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, Mac Powell, and Samwise Gamgee.
