Larry has a wife of 26 years, Theresa (Teri) Pender and five children: Larry Jr. (22) studying in Manchester, England to earn his master’s degree in sociology; Sarah (20) studying in Pensacola, FL. with a focus on child development; Andrea (19) a senior at Tuscaloosa Christian School and a member of the National Guard; Emily (14) a 9th grader at Flint Hill; Hannah (12) a 7th grader at Flint Hill.
Special Interests: Larry loves to play and watch basketball and golf. He has recently retrieved a childhood interest in fishing and won the first annual FHBC Fishing Tournament Big Fish Award by landing a 10 lb. large mouth bass, which he proudly displays, in his office. Truth is it was a lucky catch! He is still learning the art of bass fishing. Between ministries Larry took a job with a company in Tuscaloosa where he was schooled in the technologies of computer maintenance and PBX (telephone switch) maintenance. He used these skills at Tuscaloosa Christian School to help build a 26 seat computer lab and enhance their High School. He looks forward to doing the same at FHCS.
As a relatively new administrator he feels that he has a lot to learn, but also a lot to offer the ministry at FHCS. He brought some fresh ideas about structure and organization to the table and has assembled one of the best teaching staffs the school has ever had. The enrollment when he came was 200 students K2-8th grade. Those numbers have increased to 290 students K2-9th grade. He has a vision for a full program including fine arts and excellent athletics.
