What is the worship like at Flint Hill?

Worship at Flint Hill is first and foremost God-centered.  Every element within our worship service seeks to exalt the triune God . With the Word as our guide, we believe worship is largely communal dialogue in response to the goodness and mercy of God, where we present ourselves as a living sacrifice and remember His selfless love and generosity toward us. We believe worship is  interactive and experiential by nature, engaging the heart of the believer with the heart of God. We believe worship should be grounded in and full of the truth of scripture, with a special emphasis on the redemptive power of the cross and the free gift of grace Christ offers through His sacrifice. We also believe that corporate worship should be framed in a cultural context in an effort to make the experience relevant to the worshipper, while being careful not to allow relevance to usurp the truth of scripture or the content of the message. All of this, then, should empower and compel the worshipper to practical applications of faith and should be evidence of having been in the presence of the Lord. Ideally, many will, “…see and fear and put their trust in the Lord.” With this emphasis on the Godhead, His Word, and salvation, the issues of style, instrumentation, etc. become secondary, and ultimately, a matter of personal taste. In order to validate the Word and salvation as paramount in worship, we do sing songs in a variety of styles and incorporate other expressions of art (drama, dance, visual media, etc.) into the corporate worship service. We also celebrate the Advent season each year, and place a high priority on the Lord's table throughout the year.
